Multi-vendor e-commerce
RupBaz — Multi-Vendor WooCommerce Marketplace
A multi-vendor marketplace on WordPress, WooCommerce and Dokan Pro with vendor onboarding, customer ordering, payment integrations, cash-on-delivery controls, courier booking and tracking, and admin reporting.

Overview
RupBaz is a multi-vendor marketplace: independent sellers run their own storefronts inside one shop, and customers browse, compare and order across all of them. The storefront serves customers in Bangladesh, with prices in taka and delivery handled through courier services.
The business need
A marketplace multiplies the complexity of a normal shop. Every order may involve a different vendor, and the operator has to keep control of quality, payments and fulfilment without doing the vendors' work for them.
- Vendors needed to onboard and manage their own products without admin bottlenecks.
- Customers expect familiar payment options, including cash on delivery — which carries real risk for sellers.
- Deliveries had to be booked with couriers and tracked, not managed by phone.
- The operator needed administrative workflows and reporting across all vendors.
My role
I built the marketplace on WordPress and WooCommerce with Dokan Pro, and implemented the custom integrations and workflows around it: payments, cash-on-delivery controls, courier booking and tracking, and administrative tooling.
Technical architecture
- Commerce: WooCommerce provides products, carts, checkout and orders.
- Marketplace layer: Dokan Pro provides vendor accounts, storefronts, and vendor dashboards.
- Payments: payment gateway integrations alongside cash on delivery, with rules that control when COD is available.
- Fulfilment: courier integrations for booking shipments and tracking their status from the order.
- Operations: admin workflows and reports across vendors and orders.
Key implementation decisions
Build on a proven marketplace foundation. Dokan Pro handles the generic multi-vendor concerns, so custom engineering could focus on what was specific to this market: payment behaviour and courier logistics.
Make cash on delivery a controlled option. COD is expected by customers but costly when orders are refused, so it is treated as a rule-driven payment method rather than an always-on default.
Connect fulfilment to the order. Booking couriers and tracking shipments from within the marketplace keeps order status, vendor responsibilities and customer updates in one system.
